Buying a chamber is the start of a long relationship with a pressure system that has to stay safe and compliant for years. This guide walks through the choices — type, new vs refurbished, cost drivers, installation and the regulations — so you can specify the right unit first time.
Single-occupancy. Includes soft-shell mild-hyperbaric chambers (used in wellness and sports recovery, lower pressure) and hard-shell medical mono-place chambers (higher pressure, full medical use). Lower cost, smaller footprint, simpler services — a common entry point for clinics and wellness centres.
Two to twelve-plus occupants, with an attendant inside and oxygen delivered by BIBS mask. Higher treatment pressures, full medical and commercial-diving use. Significantly larger investment in the chamber, gas systems, controls and the room around it.
New chambers come with the latest controls, a manufacturer warranty and a clean compliance start. Refurbished chambers — properly stripped, re-sealed, re-painted, re-certified and supplied with full inspection documentation — can save a meaningful percentage with the same usable life. The deciding factors are who did the refurbishment and what paperwork comes with it: without current certification and a clear maintenance history, a "bargain" chamber is a liability.
Rather than a list price, the meaningful number comes from a site survey and specification — which is why we quote fixed after seeing your site, not before.
Pressure Systems Safety Regulations — you'll need a written scheme of examination and ongoing statutory inspection.
British Compressed Gases Association codes of practice for safe oxygen and gas handling.
If the chamber is used for regulated medical activity, Care Quality Commission registration applies.
If it supports commercial diving operations, the Diving at Work Regulations apply.
A chamber sale shouldn't end at delivery. Look for a supplier who provides a site survey and specification before you order, handles delivery, installation and commissioning with their own engineers, completes the first PSSR examination and operator training at handover, and can support the chamber's spares and servicing for its whole life. That continuity is what keeps a chamber compliant and running — and stops you juggling three different companies for sale, service and parts.
We supply new and refurbished hyperbaric chambers with installation, commissioning, operator training and lifetime servicing & spares support. A short call is enough to scope what you need.
